Leather Ring Tutorial

Today I've got a quite tutorial on how I made a leather ring from an old belt. I found this to be a quick and easy project.
You need;
  • An old leather belt
  • Scissors
  • A needle
  • Embroidery Floss

Start by freeing the loop from the rest of the belt. Depending on how it's attached you might have to do it differently, but I was just able to cut it off from the underside of the belt.

Then I just cut the staple off, measured around my finger, and cut the loop down to the right size. When that was done, I chose the color thread I wanted, and strung my needle. I would have liked to use the full thread, but it wouldn't fit in my needle, so I used three strands. I was able to poke my needle through the leather so I didn't have to worry about pre-punching holes.

Then just line up the ends and stitch them together. I just used a simple whip stitch, and I sewed through each hole twice. Make sure to pull it tight, but not hard enough to rip the leather. Which happened to me once. Make sure to secure the ends, and trim them, and then that's it. Enjoy your new custom handmade leather ring!
