A Walk in the Woods

Today the weather was gorgeous. There is just something about spring that makes me feel like getting out and doing stuff. Like I'm coming out of hibernation... So we, (me, a couple friends, and my sister,) decided to go for a walk in the woods.

We walked to the park down the road from my house. It's a really nice park with lots of trails. But trails are boring. We wanted to go on an adventure. It didn't take long before we were walking through the woods, and the leaves, and the MUD! Spring means melting snow and little rivers and wet dirt.

We just explored. We found a little valley with a fallen tree bridge going across.

It was more like a couple trees.

Next we found a little creek. We would have walked across, except that the water was pretty much liquid ice,  and it was deep enough to get our pants wet.

So instead, we tried to stand on a little rock close to the edge. That didn't really work. Our feet just got wet, and the dry ground at the bank turned out to be mug in disguise. We cleaned off our feet and our flip flops in a little waterfall. It is soooo nice to wear flip flops again!

We pretty much just wandered around in the woods. Trying, but not very hard, to stay kind of clean. Who cares about dirt when you are exploring?

Eventually we made our way back to the trail.

Hopping puddles and little rivers the whole way.

For some reason we decided to walk up the tubing run...Why did we do that? I can still feel the burn in my legs. Still the view from the top was pretty cool. I could see, well, I guess until the top of the next big hill. All in all, we walked almost 3 miles.
Spring is my favorite.
